FAQ's

The following FAQ’s should answer most queries and, also, embrace Andy’s Terms and Conditions:

Q: How much does Andy charge?

A: Fees are by arrangement with the client, as they will vary considerably according to the client’s specific requirements and circumstances.

Q: What sort of factors would affect the fee being charged?

A: The length of the musical performance or music lesson; the traveling distance/time involved; where additional equipment is required for vocals or backing tracks; where additional musicians are required, or where music has to be obtained or arranged due to advanced requests, which could be for a live performance or for a pre-requested specialised music lesson (i.e. a lesson involving music outside of the normal course materials).

Q: Does Andy provide his own piano/keyboard?

A: Yes, although if you already have a piano, and it is reasonably in tune, he is more than happy to play your piano (assuming the requirement is straight piano without backing effects).

Q: Can Andy provide vocals and/or rhythm or backing tracks?

A: Yes, although this will usually involve extra charges to cover additional equipment or track programming.

Q: Can Andy provide additional musicians or a jazz band?

A: Yes, in most cases if required. However, such a request should be made well in advance of the event. Cost and details are by arrangement with the client.

Q: Is the only music on offer jazz and blues, or can I ask for other styles of music?

A: Please discuss this with Andy and he will let you know- most styles can be catered for.

Q: What is the situation regarding musical requests?

A: These have to be submitted in advance of the performance, but will incur an additional charge if not already one of Andy’s performance pieces. It might not be possible for all requests to be catered for, in which case he will offer alternatives to the client.

Q: How does the contractual agreement work?

A: Andy uses the standard industry-wide Musicians’ Union contract form and takes a 20% deposit, the rest payable at the time of the performance. The deposit is forfeited if the engagement is cancelled.

Q: I am an agent/promoter/band manager- how does the contractual agreement work in my case?

A: By arrangement, as this would also depend on your own contractual system.
